Our Values

Admin Codex

We serve our community.

We bias toward action.

We are kind.

First Principles

Our role must set a foundation of success for our peers, our teams, and our community. We must consider that the consequences of our decisions may bring joy to each player and, equally, it may hurt them.

For this reason, each of us agrees to be bound by admin protocol. We operate as a council and exercise administrative authority unanimously.

Communication is our number one priority. The main purpose of this protocol is to ensure all administrators are debriefed and prepared to advocate for new objectives.

The admin protocol provides a framework that informs why we make the decisions we do and how we can meet our mission.

Concepts

#A Voting

  1. In order to exercise administrative authority, members must seek administrative approval.

    1. Approvals ****are binding immediately once the final vote is cast in favour.
    2. The admin requesting the approval is responsible for documenting it in the directive catalogue.
  2. There are no “negative” or “neutral” votes.

  3. Conflicting approvals defer to the highest level of approval and most recent approval, in that order.

  4. There is no limit to what may be admin approved, though some actions require the authority of administrative approval.

    When is admin approval mandatory?

You might consider obtaining admin approval even for developments that don’t require it. This will a) provide a platform to deliver context, b) open a discussion and invite meaningful critique, and c) verify that the team supports your mission.

  1. When you vote in favour you pledge to the following:
    1. To your best knowledge; you recognize the change could improve the community.
    2. You will facilitate this change and/or you will provide support and fellowship to the performing admin.
    3. You agree to bear responsibility for outcomes.
    4. You understand the material well-enough to represent coherent rationale to third-parties on behalf of the administration.
    5. You do not vote in favour if any are untrue.

#B Safety

  1. Upon notice of an incident regarding community safety, you must disclose any report to the administration.
